August Bank Holiday in Shrewsbury

I’m a bit late in posting this by about month & half, but better late than never. We decided that we should go camping over the bank holiday weekend as the tent had not been out all year. The problem being is finding somewhere that is not going to be busy, as that’s always a problem over bank holiday weekend in the UK when looking for a nice location to visit. So it was off to sunny Shorpshire early Saturday morning to miss the traffic, as we had arranged a campsite at Severn Houses which is about 5 miles outside of Shrewsbury.

Once the tent was up and we had a few minutes to relax we headed to the local pub for a few drinks then got the bus into Shrewsbury. I have been to Shrewsbury before, but have never stopped. We had a look around and sampled some of the local pubs, but it was not until Emma got talking to the bar man at pub number 4 that we had been visiting about all the worst pubs in Shrewsbury. We were thinking that they were a bit shit. We had a good meal later that night and got a taxi back to the tent, were I got drunk in side the tent!!!

Next day back into Shrewsbury to have a good walk down by the river and some more exploring, then all the good pubs this time. Overall it’s a very nice place and as the lonely planet says “It’s one of the best examples of tudor buildings in the country”. Another nice meal with some red wine that made me do a little throw later in the evening.

Following day we what to much wenlock which was right up Emmas street, small old town with the remains of the abbey that we had to visit. All good. Pictures Here
